Daytona24's Digital Life BlogCovering technology for everyday life.
December 15 I'm Moving Well moving my blog to be precise, I have decided to move along to Blogger. Why? Well you tell me, actually you won't because I dont think I've ever had a visitor here? But I like blogging and Blogger will allow some flexibility to add more HTML, Flash and Java things I want to add, and maybe include Daytona24's Digital Life blog in some web searches along the way. Anyway you can find my new blog here . If you've been by thank you, if your just finding this I think you'll continue to find the same type of information on the new site. Maybe even a little better. Thank you. December 12 Its the Most Wonderful Time of the Year!Ah December, the smell of Christmas in the air and the hope that I'll finally get all those DVD's I've missed throughout the year. Ok so that's not what Christmas is all about, well maybe it is for some. Anyway I haven't blogged in awhile so I figured it was time to back to business. I've been enjoying the added benefits the Fall 360 Dashboard update has brought and I'm in the process of getting a very cheap (read free) second 360 to extend those benefits even more. My Zune 80 has been by my side and helping me keep up to date on all my video and audio podcasts and I LOVE the Wi Fi sync. Speaking of Wi Fi sync it actually seems that I'm getting my home media to a point where most of it is automatic and doesn't need a whole lot of user modification to get the media around. I've been literally beating the hell out of Rock Band you know with the drums and all and as this writer's strike begins to keep new TV shows from hitting the networks I'm catching up on all the movies that have been piling up. And finally even though I've not been blogging all that much (I know my droves of fans are wondering where I've been) you can keep up to date on the goings on via my Twitter. Enjoy your holidays and enjoy all your media, keep those holiday playlists going! November 26 Rock Band As of today I've played through Guitar Hero 1 and 80's on the PS2 and I've played through Guitar Hero 2 and 3 on the Xbox 360, all four great games, all four great experiences. Then along came Rock Band. Rock Band is not a game, its an experience, a driving experience, and one up to this point for me has been done very well. With the GH games I always play on medium, I'm good at medium, beyond that forget it, which for me has ended all the GH games rather quickly. With Rock Band at this point I've gone through Drums on easy and I'm starting medium and I've even moved on to hard on the guitar. Sure I'm still early in songs, but the game isn't beating me into submission because it can, it seems more natural. Sure its harder, but its still fun, it doesn't seem hard just to be hard. And lets not forget this games multiple avenues, drums, guitar, bass and singing, I'm sorry did someone say singing, oh and did I mention singing is fun? Well it is. And lastly as a matter of fact I do care about what my rocker looks like on stage, why? Because I can see him on stage rocking out, and he looks good, you no longer have to pick from a few different characters which will become your rocker person. This to me at least is yet another thing that draws me in to the game. Add to all this rather decent pricing on down loadable content and the fact that all DLC gets implemented into the game and not just thrown on the side for you to play simply makes this game ROCK! Don't get me wrong Guitar Hero is a fun game, but when I get a group of friends over to play Band World Tour the best thing about Guitar Hero 3 becomes the fact that it came with a guitar we can use as the bass! November 24 A Wii Little ZapperI'll admit I don't buy much for the Wii, but what it seems is that I go for the "mini game" or "this game is hard to get" games when I do, the last game I bought was Carnival Games, right when I realized it was hard to get, but I got it. The other day I came across the Wii Zapper which on Gamestop's website was labeled "backordered", well the next day I got one at the local Gamestop. Both of these games are also the "mini game" type games and well thats ok with me, thats why I bought my Wii. But the Wii Zapper comes with Link's Crossbow Training, and while the Zapper itself is just a shell to hold the Wiimote and Nunchuk its a pretty cool package, and the game, of course tied to the Zelda world, is actually alot of fun. Its exactly the type of thing I bought the Wii for. Nintendo does know how to make fun products, and even though neither the Wii or my DS keep me going for long stretches of play time there is no denying their role in either the gaming world or my gaming world. Pure fun, Nintendo style. November 19 Screen SaversI thought I'd take a minute today to thank a group of online techies for giving me my regular dose of tech news and information, its seems like forever ago when I was first introduced to Screen Savers and two guys by the name of Leo and Patrick, soon after I was able to actually get Screen Savers in my home on cable it was replaced by Attack of the Show, eck. But thankfully by way of the same Internet that this show talked about daily I can now keep well in touch with tech. Back from Screen Savers of old Leo heads up TWIT as well as many other great podcasts, Patrick is over at Revision3 heading up Tekzilla, after leaving DLTV but leaving behind a great show headed by Robert and Roger, I've also met up with John C Dvorak and Cranky Geeks, I use digg daily and now listen to Diggnation with Kevin Rose, Morgan Webb has left Adam Sessler back in the game room and now heads up WebbAlert, a great daily online show. Finally my new online lady Veronica Belmont's show Mahalo Daily doesn't always talk tech but its so much fun to watch. Thanks to all involved for giving me a place to get my new Tech TV! |
